Topper's Suzuki GSX-R1100 Cafe Racer. Our man from Cheltenham, Dave Solomon of Butchered Classics, is back with another build. This time, it's a 1989 Suzuki GSX-R1100 built for his "vertically-challenged" mate, Topper. As you may know, the 1989 "K model" was fitted with the legendary 1127cc oil-air-cooled motor, producing 138.

I molded part of the stock side panels of the GSXR using fiberglass and grafted them to the front of the Ducati tail to lengthen it and help it blend with the tank to look more like a factory Suzuki part.

The 1991 GSX-R 750 had a fully enclosed fairing but our design was to open it up as much as possible to create a neo retro look. The build began with a complete disassembly of the motorcycle. We cut of the rear part of the frame and made a custom tail end designed to accommodate all the electrical components (battery, relays, cdi, etc).

The GSXR 400 Cafe Racer has a unique look that sets it apart from other bikes. Its minimalistic design features an exposed frame, low-slung handlebars, and a single seat that provides a low seating position for the rider. This bike also has a larger than average tank that provides extra fuel capacity for long-distance rides.

The engine Wolfgang selected for the bike was sourced from a Suzuki GSXR 1000. While in its standard configuration the engine provided decent performance, but it wasn't enough to satisfy Wolfgang's "high powered cafe racer" goal. To get the engine up to spec it was sent to local performance experts 'Racers Warehouse' for a big horsepower makeover.
